W Series today announces the first name in its all-star commentary team for the 2020 season. Motor sport expert and voice of Formula 2, Alex Jacques, will assume the role of W Series’ lead commentator for the forthcoming season, which begins in St Petersburg (Russia), in late May.
Alex is passionate and knowledgeable about all forms of single-seater motor racing and has extensive experience working with various series over the past five years. From epic thrills and spills, to gripping battles, he promises to bring the spectacle of W Series to life for TV audiences old and new.
In selecting this year’s presentation team, W Series has made a conscious effort to fulfil its mission of continuing to develop emerging talent on and off track. Further additions to W Series’ TV talent team will therefore be announced in the coming months, so fans can expect to see a few exciting new faces and guest appearances, as well as the return of some more familiar names too.
Catherine Bond Muir, CEO of W Series, said:
“We’re all absolutely delighted to welcome Alex Jacques to the W Series commentary team.
“A big part of what we’re trying to do here at W Series is entertain our audiences with high-quality compelling motor racing. Having listened carefully to Alex’s commentaries during an extensive and rigorous process of appraising many excellent commentators, we thought his specialist knowledge, infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy made him the perfect fit for W Series. I know that he’ll keep fans coming back for more, race after race.
“Obviously, 2020 is a big year for W Series. We’ve got a whole host of new things in store – the announcement of Alex is just the beginning so watch this space. I’m excited and I hope our fans are too.”
Alex Jacques, newly appointed W Series commentator, said:
“I’ve followed W Series with great interest throughout its first season, 2019, and I’ve been extremely impressed by what I’ve seen, so much so that when I received the call inviting me to become its lead commentator, it was a very easy decision to make.
“But, in addition to the spectacle and appeal of W Series, I’m truly delighted to be taking this opportunity to make a positive impact on a sport and industry that I’ve come to love and respect.
“I’ll be waiting with bated breath to find out whom I’ll be working alongside in the commentary box, but what I’m looking forward to most is delving into the detail and getting to know the drivers – I can’t wait to get started. Bring on May 30th, in St Petersburg, the first race of the 2020 W Series season.”
