Fourteen new drivers from 12 different countries around the world, will travel to Almeria, southern Spain, to take part in the selection programme which will determine the grid for the 2020 season, only the second since W Series was launched in October 2019.

Hear from the 14 drivers on their thoughts on W Series and their Almeria attendance.

Abbie Eaton, UK

“I’ve been following W Series throughout its inaugural season and I’ve been really impressed by how the championship has developed. I’m delighted to have been invited to Spain for the 2020 selection event following the simulator test event last week in the UK, and I’m looking forward to getting some mileage in a single seater, hopefully ending with a spot on the 2020 grid.”

Abbie Munro, UK

“I’ve been following the W Series since the beginning and was lucky enough to experience a race event first hand at the final round at Brands Hatch. The success of the first year of the championship and the excellent driver development opportunity can’t be disputed and this has resulted in my decision to apply for next year. I’m delighted to have been invited to Spain for the 2020 selection event – now all of my focus is on proving that I’ve got what it takes on the track.”

Anna Inotsume, Japan

“I’ve followed the progress of the 2019 W Series drivers all season and been really inspired by what they’ve achieved. When I received the news that I had been invited to the 2020 season test event this weekend in Spain I was very happy and I’m determined to prove that I’ve got what it takes to qualify for the 2020 season.”

Ayla Agren, Norway

“I am really excited to have a second shot at the W series and I can’t wait to be back in an open-wheel car. A lack of budget has meant that I’ve had to sit out the last couple of seasons and to get a chance to have a full season with the W Series is exactly what my career needs.”

Belén García, Spain

“I am really excited to have the opportunity to test for W Series. I know it won’t be easy to qualify but I’m positive that I am able to achieve it. I will give it my all and try to be the best version of myself.”

Bruna Tomaselli, Brazil

“I am looking forward to the weekend ahead and I am grateful for another opportunity to test with W Series. I have had a strong 2019 season so far and I’m feeling better prepared than I was going into the W Series selection process last year. I believe that I’ve got what it takes, and I hope to finish the tests with a place on the 2020 W Series grid.”

Chelsea Herbert, New Zealand

‘I believe that the opportunity W Series represents only comes around once in a lifetime and I feel fortunate and highly excited to be in the right place at the right time to take this opportunity forward. I believe in myself and I believe I can prove why I am worthy of a place in the W Series 2020 season!”

Courtney Crone, USA

“Thank you to W Series for inviting me to Almería, Spain! I am looking forward to getting on track and getting a feel for the Tatuus F3 car. This opportunity will be an important step forward in my career and my goal of racing in the IndyCar series!”

Gabriela Jilkova, Czech Republic

“I am really looking forward to the W Series test, as the Formula cars are close to me. A few years ago, I raced in a Formula Renault 2.0 and I think that was the best season of my career so far. I can’t wait to measure my skills against some of the fastest women in the world.”

Hannah Grisham, USA

“I have been racing my whole life, hoping for an opportunity like W Series. I am extremely grateful and so excited to be considered alongside some of the best female drivers in the world, and will do my absolute best to make everyone that has supported and helped me get here proud.”

Ira Sidorkova, Russia

“To be invited to W Series test in Almeria next week is above my expectations. It is my first season in single-seaters and I’m grateful for this opportunity to test alongside other talented women. I am going to be one of the youngest drives and I hope that my skills, will and determination will help me to qualify and fulfil my dream!”

Katherine Legge, UK

“I was sceptical about W Series in the beginning but I’ve followed it throughout the 2019 season and I can honestly say that it has exceeded my expectations, so much so that I’m delighted to be taking part in the test event myself this weekend in Almeria.”

Michelle Gatting, Denmark

“I am super-excited to join the W Series test in Almeria. I turned down the invitation last year due to my commitments with Kessel Racing and the Iron-Dames but I have followed W Series this season and I am impressed at how well it went. I am excited to test the Tatuus F3 T-318 since I never driven a car with so much downforce.”

Nerea Marti, Spain

“It’s fantastic to have been invited to the W Series test in Almeria this weekend. I’ve been following the series closely all year and been really inspired by British driver, Jamie Chadwick. I know that I’m going to be testing alongside some really talented women, but I’m determined and positive that I’ve got what it takes to qualify.”
