New All 4 Documentary Follows The Women Competing To Reach Formula 1
Alongside the global women’s sports movement in 2019 came W Series, a new motor racing series for female drivers with the ambition to rethink racing and change the face of motorsport. Witness the passion and effort required to succeed against the odds in this six-part documentary series available now on All 4.
Denied a realistic chance to reach the pinnacle of their sport, a group of the world’s finest female racing drivers are whittled down to a group of 18 to compete in a brand new, free-to-enter racing series which aims to produce the first female Formula 1 driver since 1976.
W Series: Driven highlights the bravery and tenacity of these drivers on and off the track, as they push the limits in the pursuit of acceptance in an industry that has not produced a female F1 Grand Prix driver for almost half a century.
The drama begins in Austria where 54 female racing drivers from around the world – including an F1 engineer, a Hollywood stunt driver, a plumber, a banker and two mums – undergo three days of rigorous testing before half of them face elimination. The documentary then follows the highs and lows of life as a racing driver as the remaining 18 drivers compete at six circuits across Europe.
Catherine Bond Muir (CEO of W Series) said:
I am thrilled that as of Sunday 20 June W Series: Driven will be available in full. There is currently a great appetite – amongst motor racing fans and beyond – for behind-the-scenes motorsport action and Driven delivers all the excitement and drama of W Series’ inaugural season in six gripping episodes.
It’s a brilliant recap of our journey thus far for existing fans and I am confident that with the platform provided by All 4 and our global broadcast partners we will reach an even greater and more diverse audience in the lead up to our first race in Austria
All six episodes of the documentary can be found on All 4 here.
W Series: Driven is also available to view in countries across the globe via the below broadcasters.
